Lord Corporation was first established in 1919 by Hugh C. Lord, a Pennsylvania patent attorney who was investigating the use of bonding rubber to metal in order to isolate and control noise, shock, and vibrations. By the 1920’s, General Electric served as a major customer of Lord Corporation, utilizing their mount products for their trolley cars. During this time, Lord Corporation produced a variety of engine mounts that benefitted aircraft, railroad cars, and busses. During the Korean War, the company also made rubber substitutes and adhesives for various vehicles and aircraft.
After the war, Lord Corporation began to expand their reach, establishing multiple facilities and offices both domestically and internationally. In 2019, Parker Hannifin announced its intention to acquire Lord Corporation, and the deal was completed that same year.
