History and Industries Served

Hawker Engineering was established in 1921; it went through a series of renaming to Hawker Aircraft Ltd. in 1933, and again to Hawker Siddeley Company. Under the latter title, the company developed the Hurricane, which was a critical aircraft used by ally forces in WWII. British Aerospace Corp. (now BAE systems) acquired Hawker Siddeley in 1977. In 1980, the division of Hawker Pacific Aerospace was formed. During the ‘90s, the Hawker brand went through a series of changes: In 1991, BTR Aerospace Group acquired Hawker Siddeley; in 1994, Dunlop Aviation Inc merged with Hawker Pacific Inc.; and in 1996, BTR sold Hawker Pacific.

In 1980, the Raytheon Company acquired Beechcraft, and by 1990 they merged it with another one of their brands— Hawker— to form Hawker Beechcraft. In 2002, Hawker Pacific Aerospace became a subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG, and still operates within the company. By 2007, an Onex Partners and Goldman Sachs private equity arm purchased Raytheon’s aircraft manufacturing division, Raytheon Aircraft, which encompassed Beechcraft and the remaining Hawker brand. In 2014, Textron purchased Beechcraft and formed Textron Aviation; whose product portfolio currently includes the Beechcraft, Hawker, and Cessna brands.

Military

The De Havilland aircraft design, now integrated in the design of the Hawker Siddeley 125 ( known as the Hawker 1000) aircraft, is one of the most prevalent Hawker military transport aircraft in use. The Hawker Hunter aircraft family is another well-known Hawker military aircraft; the fighter bomber and aerial reconnaissance aircraft was used by multiple military operations including the Royal Air Force.

General Aviation

Currently, Hawker predominantly serves the general aviation business jet market. Under Textron, the Hawker brand operates as a service and aircraft spare parts provider to Hawker aircraft. The Textron brand offers AOG support, certified service centers, air response, spare parts, and aftermarket sales; they do not manufacture new Hawker aircraft. Popular Hawker business jet aircraft include BAE 125/ Hawker 800, Hawker 400, and Hawker 4000.

Products & Platforms

Hawker still provides spare parts for Hawker aircraft, primarily for Hawker Beechcraft and Hawker De Havilland aircraft. As they once operated as a full OEM, Hawker provides surplus and obsolete aircraft hardware and platforms for applicable aircraft.
