Viking Air was first established in 1970 in British Columbia, Canada, and their original focus consisted of the maintenance of seaplanes and utility aircraft markets. In 1983, Viking was given exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute parts for the de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver and DHC-3 Otter aircrafts, changing the course of their aim. In 2005, Viking acquired the Product Support and Spare Parts businesses for the DHC-6 Twin Otter from Bombardier. The following year, Viking also obtained Type Certificates for seven de Havilland aircraft, allowing them to serve as the OEM in order to produce any of these aircraft as they desired. In 2007, Viking went on to launch a new Twin Otter Series 400 with a reimagined and modernized cockpit and components. Over the following years, Viking would continue to expand their facilities, tools, and capabilities. They also undertook more contracts with the delivering of their Series 400 aircraft to various clients and partners. Currently, Viking continues to develop their product portfolio and business.
