About Copeland Corporation

The Copeland Corporation company functions as a subsidiary of Emerson Electric. Copeland has been around as of 1937, with a humble beginning that goes as far back to its Michigan investor Edmund Copeland. This investor had started his own refrigeration compressor company more than 10 years prior, but around the 1930w, Copeland had released his first successful mechanical refrigeration system, which can now be found in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. Resulting from the company experiencing financial issues, Edmund sold the company assets to Dallas Winslow and moved onto the railroad business. But in the year 1939, Copeland managers Oskar Buschmann, Frank Gleason, Harry Thompson, and Charles Curtis, hinted that they were interested in acquiring the company back from Mr. Winslow. Though they were unable to afford the full amount, a deal was made by Winslow who had the four promise that they would pay him back. Some of the company’s milestones include producing an industry standard for a new compressor. In 1986, the company manufactured the new Compliant Scroll Compressor, which was the first and only American manufacturer to produce scroll compressors for the residential air conditioning and heat pump market.
